Tonga and Vanuatu Basketball Federations are applying to host AYAD's in 2010.

The AYAD (Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development) program is funded by the Australian Government through their overseas aid program. Applications for the 2010 program close 1st December 2009, for placement in July 2010. If you are interested in finding out more about the Tonga and Vanuatu placements for 2010, and how to apply, click here.

The program places young Australians aged 18 – 30 into development assignments in the Asia Pacific region.  FIBA Oceania is a partner organisation with the AYAD scheme, which means that we work with Basketball Federations across the Oceania region to develop AYAD assignments, and to select young Australians to undertake those assignments.

From July 2010 to July 2011, FIBA Oceania will place a Basketball Development Officer AYAD in Tonga and Vanuatu.

This program is an amazing opportunity for young Australian basketball enthusiasts, and although called a ‘volunteer’ program, all travel and set up expenses, plus a monthly living allowance is paid by the Australian government.

Over the past  years we have placed AYADs in Tonga, Vanuatu (2), Fiji (3), Solomon Islands, Samoa and Papua New Guinea. Our previous AYAD’s have come from Queensland, South Australia, Canberra, NSW and Victoria.
