"Soul to Sole" program underway
"From our hearts to your feet" This shoe project has now been taken up by 5 associations in Australia
Only a couple of weeks into the program, and the basketball associations of Australia have opened their hearts to the needs of their Pacific Island neighbours.
The "Soul to Sole - From our Hearts to your Feet" project has already been taken up by 5 basketball associations in Australia, including two of the largest associations.
FIBA Oceania's 'home' basketball association, Coffs Harbour, will be partnered with FSM Basketball Federation and shoes are already being collected in Coffs.
Kilsyth and Knox associations in Victoria both have over 6,000 registered members each, so it is expected that alot of shoes will be coming out of those associations. Kilsyth has been matched with the Basketball Federation of Tahiti, while Knox shoes will heading to Fiji.
The ACT (Canberra) Association will be collecting shoes for the basketballers of Papua New Guinea, while the Logan association on Queensland's Gold Coast will partner with the Solomon Island Basketball Federation.
It is expected that more Australian associations will join the program once they return to the courts for the 2010 season. FIBA Oceania would like to thank the associations who have already joined the program.
