Known formerly as the FIBA Oceania Youth Tournament, the Pacific Youth Championships will be held from 24th November to 2nd December in Churchill, Australia. Churchill is a small town in the Latrobe Valley, 2 hours drive from Melbourne.

The 2012 event will be the 9th Oceania Youth Championships, and will cater for 8 men's and 8 women's teams from across the zone.  Players must be 19 years and under at 31st December 2012 (born 1st January 1993 or later).

In a move to encourage the development of young coaches and referees in the zone, all coaches and referees at the Championships must be aged 35 years or under.

To encourage female participation, female teams must have one female official with their team.  That official can be the coach, the manager or the Head of Delegation.

Participating Federations are responsible for the cost of their international air fares from their home country to Melbourne, Australia and return.  The accommodation, meal and ground transport costs for the teams will be free of charge.

A range of player, coach, referee and manager education workshops will be conducted during the Championships.
