Vanuatu celebrate Children's Day with Under 12 competition
Vanuatu Basketball Federation organised a 4 day festival of basketball for young children to celebrate Children's Day.
Vanuatu Basketball Federation appreciated the support from primary schools to be part of the tournament to commemorate Children’s Day and Independence Day 2012.
The competition started on the 16th of July, with the finals on Friday 20th July. Some schools apologized for their absence at the beginning of the tournament, but Kawenu School, Vila North school and Mele School sent boys and girls teams to compete in the Under 12 tournament.
Organisers played a double round robin tournament, giving the teams a chance to showcase their skills over the games. Vanuatu NBDO Stanford said "It's very good to see that the kids have shown a lot of progress in the games."
In the finals the undefeated school Vila North proved that they are best in the Under 12 category for both the boys and girls.
Second place in the boys category went to Mele School and Kawenu took the third place. In the girls category second place goes to Kawenu with Mele ranked the third.
Basketball Vanuatu wouldn’t have this tournament without distinguished sponsors, UNELCO. VBF are thankful for UNELCO's continuting support for Basketball development in Vanuatu.
