Fiji, Tahiti, Guam, New Caledonia, Samoa, New Zealand, PNG will join hosts Australia as the 16 teams to compete at the 2012 Pacific Youth Championships.

Each of the 8 Federations selected met the criteria of entering both a men's and a women's team.  American Samoa nominated a men's team, and have been accepted as the emergency reserve men's team.

The travelling Federations now have just over 2 months to complete their fundraising and to intensify their individual and team practices.

The teams from Fiji and New Caledonia have been part of their Federation's  long-term Youth training program, with their squads in full training for the past few months.  Fiji used their National High Schools Championships as an opportunity to add previously unseen talented players to their squads.

The New Caledonians have just completed a week long camp at Poindimie in the north of their main island, allowing their country and city players to work together.
